Places to Visit in Amravati

It is one of the oldest temples in Amravati and the goddess of this temple is Ambadevi who is known as the incarnation of goddess Durga. History tells us that Krishna kidnapped Rukmini and married her in this temple. They constructed this temple with beautiful walls and sculptures which attract the tourists and also tell us different Puranas. There is a spacious hall which is called Garbhagriha apart from the other walls. This wall has been divided into three main parts with the idol of goddess Ambabai, goddess Parvathi, Lord Ganpati, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Mahadev. There are various idols of gods and goddesses which are in the western wall of this temple. It is located in the Amravati district in Maharashtra and from the southern part of Satpura hills. It is about 225 km from Nagpur. It was started in 1967 as a wildlife sanctuary and was declared as a Tiger reserve in 1974 and it was the first Tiger reserve in Maharashtra. Some of the other species that can be witnessed in this reserve are Sloth Bear, Sambar deer, Nilgais, forest owlet, Leopards, and Indian Gaur. They are divided into 4 centres such as Semadoh, Harisal, Shahnur, and Chilkhaldara. There are few stay options near Semadoh in Kolkas which is about 14 km from Semadoh. It is an earthfill gravity Dam that is across the Wardha River near Simbhora Village of Morshi Taluk in the district of Amravati of Maharashtra. It is also named as Nala Damayanti Sagar which is named after the Nala and Damayanti who are known for their famous characters which is shown in the Hindu Mythology as an epic love story. It is known as the lifeline for places like Amravati, Warud, and Morshi. It was started in 1993 and is about 15 km from Morshi and about 125 km from Nagpur and at a height of 53.50 which is above the lowest river bed level.

It is also known as the famous Reservoir which is on the Chandur rail road. It was started to supply fresh water to the people who reside near the city.
