Prashar Lake is located at an altitude of 2730 m, nestled deep in the Himalayas. With deep blue waters and the snow-capped Dhauladhars in the background, the lake is considered sacred as the sage Prashar is said to have meditated there. The temperature around the lake varies between a minimum of 0 degrees during the night to a maximum of 18 degrees during the day. Whether you find the lake frozen and surrounded by pristine snow, or deep blue, with lush green grass surrounding it depends on the season in which you decide to undertake the trek!
You will come across stunning vistas during the adventure! Starting from towering, dense forests of oak, bubbling streams amidst those forests, lunch alongside waterfalls, a visit to the holy Prashar Rishi Temple, and camping alongside the Prashar Lake, this trek has a lot to offer! Jam-packed with activities, yet comfortably paced, it will present to you the breathtaking scenery of the Dhauladhar and the glorious Himalayan sunrise and sunset!
During the adventure, you will be staying in camps overnight! Experience the brilliance of sharing tents, talking late into the night, and huddling in your sleeping bags after a long, exciting day!
For the adventure, you have to meet us, Mandi. To reach Mandi, it is advised that you directly just take a bus to Delhi from Mandi, as all Manali-bound buses stop at Mandi as well! Mandi is located on NH 21 and a drive from Delhi will take you about 10 hours to complete, along a scenic expressway! The nearest airport is the Bhuntar Airport.

The Prashar Lake Trek is especially popular amongst tourists and adventure lovers from early May to the end of July and then from September to early December. Each season shows a different side of the valley and its surroundings. In winters, the lake will be completely frozen and if you are ready for the challenge, then winter can be the best time but the trails can become very difficult to conquer. Avoiding monsoon is advisable since heavy rainfall can harm the fun.
You will be provided with night lamps and night lights, however, there will be no outlets to charge your mobile phones, so it is advised that you carry a power bank with you, if necessary.
This is a relatively easy trek, okay for even first-timers! Even children can undertake this, provided that children below the age of 15 must be under adult supervision.
While trekking is a physical activity, this one is a relatively short trek, with little incline. A person of average fitness can complete this successfully without much difficulty. However, it is advisable to follow a minimal fitness regime for a week beforehand for the best experience of the adventure.
