Toilet tents would be there. Dry toilets are available, meaning a pit is dug and excess mud and shovel is kept nearby to cover the pit after every use. It is the most hygienic way. You should carry essential toiletries.
This trek can be done by novice or beginners but like all treks requires minimum physical fitness. You can follow certain training, a month before you trek such as Jog/Run for 4 Kms in 35-40 mins or Walk continuously for 8 Kms (with 3-4 small breaks) on plain terrain (slight incline is better) or breathing exercises such as Hold your breath for 25-30 seconds.

The temperature of Chandratal fluctuates between -1â to -5 °C. By night it drops to -20â to -25 °C. As ChandraTal is on high altitude it remains cold throughout the year. The region receives the snow till June and July. The best time to visit Chandratal is September. You will get the most amazing view.
Rohtang pass is famous for its scenic beauty at an elevation of 13,051ft (3978m in Himachal Pradesh, from Manali it is 51km. It connects Kullu valley with Lahaul and Spiti valley. The place is open from June to October, it is open for motor vehicles. Best time to visit is May to June and October to November. The temperature ranges from 20 °C to 32 °C in summers while in winters it drops -2 °C, the maximum temperature here goes up to 18 °C.

By Rail: Joginder Nagar is the nearest railway station at the distance of 166km from Manali and other nearest railway stations are Pathankot and Chandigarh.
By road: Manali is well connected through Delhi, Ambala, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Shimla and Dalhousie. You can take a bus from Delhi to Manali.
By Air: The Kullu Manali Airport at Bhuntar is the nearest airport which is 50km from Manali and 10km from Kullu. From there you can hire a cab or taxi to reach Manali.
Rohtang pass is located from 51km from Manali. The region receives snowfall in June and August. The visitor can experience snow and various different activities like snow biking, paragliding, trekking and horse riding.
There is no mobile connectivity in Hampta Pass. There is a place called Allian bridge on the way to Hampta Pass. Here you will get a network of Airtel, however other connections are not so dependable. Therefore, it is advised from our end that important phone calls are made in advance.

Consumption of smoke and alcohol is not advisable at such a high altitude as it can make your body dehydrated and may cause difficulty in completing the trek.
For trekking purposes, you will need good quality trekking shoes you may be walking on multiple layers of snow. The sports shoes will not do the job of trekking shoes.

The distance between Manali to ChandraTal is 140kms which will take 7- 8 hours to reach via Rohtang pass and Bital. Chandratal lake is the lake in the Spiti part of Lahul at an elevation of 4250m. Hampta Pass derives its name from the tiny village called Hampta, which is nestled in the Kullu Valley laps. According to Mahabharata, the Hindu mythology, the Pandavas, on their quest for paradise, traveled through the trek trails. The road from Hampta Pass to Chandratal is widely known as the ‘staircase to heaven’. However, according to some people, the Hampta Pass got its name after a Rishi named Hampta Maharishi who meditated there.
The drive to Jobra is a short one and is one of the loveliest mountain drives. With a series of hairpin bends, the dirt track zips up the mountain face. You can experience the forest changes from apple orchards to deodar forests to oaks in hours. You can experience more cold and become more relaxed as you drive to Jobra from Manali.
The Hampta Pass trek has only limited exits as this trek is a pass-crossing trek. Suppose you face any issues before crossing the pass, head down to Jobra before moving on to Manali. If you face any issues after crossing the pass, you will have to move to Chatru.
