The best time to visit Kasol and Kheerganga depends upon your preference as a trekker. If you prefer warmer weather and spring, March to early June is the best season for your visit. However, if you are looking to trek in snow, and hoping for colder weather, November till early December, or late in January - February would be ideal! This adventure trek is marked as an easy-level trek. The terrain of the trek is a gentle incline and decline, for the most part, getting steep for only some short parts. Moreover, the fact that the trek is for a short duration of 3 days and the total distance covered during the trek is 25 km, makes this trek an easy one, ideal for beginners! While undertaking this backpackers’ trip to Kasol, make sure to explore the famous Israeli cafes and shop for wonderful souvenirs.

This beautiful trek will let you, the traveler, experience it all, starting from trekking and camping at a height of 2960 m, leading to a bath in the natural hot springs in Kheerganga, and all the while letting you bask in the breathtaking vistas of the River Parvati and the Himalayas covered in lush greens and pristine white. The Kheerganga trek starting point is at the dam constructed over the Himalayan river Parvati in Barshaini. If you need, you can get trekking gear like trekking poles from a shop right outside the dam! You can also seek the help of our trek guide in order to get the best rates and quality of the trekking poles. During the trek to Kheerganga, you will come across the beautiful Rudra Nag Waterfall. Take a break there, dip your feet in the cool, clear water of the roaring waterfall and enjoy hot refreshments at the famous cafe located near the waterfall! The ancient Shiva temple, or the Rudra Nag temple, is located only some way away along the route to Kheerganga. It is especially popular amongst religious pilgrims. There are a lot of shortcuts along the way to Kheerganga, however, it is advised to follow the instructions of the trek leader carefully and avoid all such routes as they can get dangerous. When you start spotting yellow and blue huts on your ascent after the waterfall and the temple, that is when you know that Kheerganga is only a few minutes away!

During this brilliant trek to Kasol and Kheerganga, you will experience the hospitality of Kasol for a night, as you will stay in a riverside camp in the mighty mountains. Delve in the local culture and enjoy indigenous cuisine while in Kasol! Apart from this, you will experience camping at Kheerganga for a night! Be prepared for campfires and sleeping bags! For your upcoming vacations, make the best of your time with this experience of the best of nature!

For this adventure trek, you have to simply meet us at Kasol. The distance between Kasol to Kheerganga is 22 km(13.7 miles) via Barshaini road. The starting point of the trek is Barshaini which you can reach by taking a bus or taxi from Kasol. The trek distance is 12 km (7.5 miles) from Barshaini and can be completed in 5-6 hours. The distance from Delhi to Kasol can be covered in a beautiful, 15-hour-long drive route. However, if you are looking to undertake the trek, it is best that you do not undertake the long drive before the trek as it can get tiring, and take public transport instead. You can take an overnight bus from Delhi to Bhuntar. You will reach Kasol between 5 AM to 7 AM.  From Bhuntar, you can either take a bus or hire a cab to Kasol. Alternatively, you can also fly to Dharamshala or Kullu, and from there you can simply take a bus to Kasol. You can also reach Kasol by taking a train from Delhi to Joginder Nagar, the nearest railway station to Kasol. From Joginder Nagar, you can take a bus or cab to Kasol.

If this is your first long-distance trek, it is always a better idea to plan ahead and start exercising at least a few weeks in advance. Especially since this trek to Kheerganga can get steep in parts.

Carry enough energy supplements for trek time. It is always better to carry foods containing sugar for energy, like chikki, plum cakes, energy bars, and especially some candy!

Carry extra clothes, especially since the trek to Kheerganga includes a visit to the Parvati Kund. It is absolutely not a good idea to trek in wet clothes.

Always prepare for an extra day, as the weather in the mountains can be quite unpredictable and cause delays in the schedule! Use your vacation days wisely and plan ahead!

While the chances of getting Acute Mountain Sickness during the Kasol Kheerganga trek are comparatively lower due to the elevation level, make sure to get acclimatized - especially during the trek from Barshaini to Kheerganga - by taking adequate breaks along the way!

While it is always best to be prepared and carry enough, it is of utmost importance that you keep your baggage light for high-altitude treks, as it can get very tiring, very quickly!

Internet and network connectivity are almost non-existent by the time you reach Kheerganga. Thus, it is best to be prepared for such situations and inform close friends and relatives beforehand about your plan to journey to Himachal Pradesh!
