Chopta Tungnath and Chandrashila Trek Package Overview

Chopta Trek - a beautiful valley, consisting of lush green meadows, surrounded by gigantic pine and oak trees - is a favorite amongst trekkers and campers. The Chopta Tungnath trek budget is extremely pocket-friendly and offers way more than the price you pay for it!

The trek starts at Haridwar - or any other town, as per your comfort - and takes you to Sari, where the base camp will be set up. From Sari your trek will first take you to the Deoriatal Lake, which reflects the magnificent vista of the Great Himalayas, earning its nickname of “two worlds in one place”. The trek will then move to Tungnath via Chopta. Tungnath is the land of myths and sages. It is one of the 5 “maths” where Lord Shiva’s 5 body parts were scattered. Finally, the adventure reaches the Chandrashila peak before heading back. The peak, located at a height of about 13,000 ft. provides an astonishing, panoramic view of various Himalayan peaks including Nandadevi, Trisul, Kedar Peak, Bandarpunch, and Chaukhamba. On your way, you will pass by Rohini Bugyal - one of the most serene and pleasant meadows of Chopta.

You will be staying in tents for the nights, which will be provided for you, along with sleeping bags.

You have to meet us at the Haridwar railway station at the beginning of this adventure.

This expedition is for the winter months of October - through November, December, January, and February - till early March, and offers the campers a chance to explore the vast, glittering expanse of snow, spread throughout the Himalayas. Rest assured this will be an experience of a lifetime.

Tungnath is one of the highest Shiva Temples in the World. It is perched at an elevation of 3,680m ( 12,073ft) and located in the mountain range of Tungnath in the Rudraprayag district in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. Tungnath Trek is a famous trek and is counted as the easiest trek in India.

Every year a lot of trekkers do this Tungnath snow trek and experience the breathtaking, and mesmerizing panoramic views of the Himalayas. This trek passes by a lot of small villages located at the top like the Rudraprayag, Devprayag, and the village Sari. Deoriatal Lake in between is the best spot for this trek. The glittering and shimmering waters of the lake look inviting, but the water is freezing cold. Get a chance to explore the forest trails, massive maple, oak, and pine trees along the lakeside.

Tungnath trek consists of picturesque waterfalls, greenery, forest trails, and amazing snow-covered mountains of the Garhwal Himalayas.

The base camp for this trek will be Chalkot, a serene lush meadow in Chopta Valley.

Do not miss a chance to stay in camps at Chopta Valley. Chopta is also known as the “Mini Switzerland” of Uttarakhand.

Tungnath is famous for Shiva Temple and the trek further takes to the Chandrashila Peak. The Chandrashila summit is located at a height of about 4,000 meters above sea level. This peak provides captivating views of Nanda Devi, Trishul, Kedar Peak, Bandarpuch, and Chaukhamba Peaks of the Himalayas.

The best time to do this trek starts from April to November as Chopta receives heavy snowfall. Tungnath and Chandrashila are snow-covered from December to March. September to November are the best months to visit and experience the clear views of the Himalayan Peaks. The temperature drops down to the negatives as the region is surrounded by snow and remains majorly cold.

Chopta Valley is at an altitude of 8792 ft and is surrounded by an Oak forest, deodar forest, and rhododendron. This will create a rich bed of flowering plants. The Chandrashila Summit Trek is one of the most beautiful treks in the Garhwal Himalayan region of Uttarakhand and plans through beautiful meadows and unpaved trails. You can feast your eyes on the Himalayan peaks' breathtaking panoramas once you achieve the peak. You can witness peaks like Nanda Devi, Trishul, Kedarnath, and Chaukhamba once you reach the peak. The Chandrashila summit trek can be traveled throughout the year. Located in the Indian Himalayan region in Uttarakhand, the Chandrashila summit trek is regarded as a moderate trek. Rare sights of an ancient culture of the Garhwal Himalaya Colors are seen in between the journey.

Chopta Chandrashila Deoriatal can be a window into Himalaya's spring color vibrancy. A well-loved trek for mountain goers of all kinds, this trek flourishes with blossoms, and rhododendrons pink and red in the summertime, while winters are a fuzzy color because of the spilling of snow. The whole tour covers a swoop into the Chandrashila Peak, departure by the charming Deoriatal lakeside, and opens up a bunch of snow peaks all the way. Chopt-Chandrashila-Deorital is really the best place for a nature treasurer, bird-watching amateur, and photographer.

Throughout my trip to Chopta Tungnath Chandrashila, I was reminded of the nature poems that I read in school. There is a huge difference between watching these hills on a computer screen and watching through your eyes…I’m lucky I not only saw them but lived through every moment of my trip.

It was indeed a feat for me to complete the Chandrashila trek. From the arrangements to the trek, everything was so passionately arranged by the team. After starting with the trek, there were only and only the Garhwal Himalayas and their magical beauty.
