Goechala Trek, Sikkim FAQs

What is the length of the Goecha La Trek?

The entire walk may be 90 kilometres long. You will have to traverse the various landscapes and sceneries by walking and climbing for about 7-8 hours each day for nine days.

What time of year is ideal for the Sikkim Goechala Trek?

The spring months of April to May and later in the autumn months of September to November are the ideal times for the Goecha La Trek. During these months, the daily average temperature ranges from 15 to 20 degrees Celsius, and the overnight ranges from 7 to -1 degrees Celsius. It is recommended to avoid July and August because of how slick the roads become during those months owing to rain.

How can we travel to Yuksom?

As we travel from Bagdogra Airport/NJP to Yuksom, we get our first glimpse of the Himalayas before beginning this beautiful walk. The trip will continue uphill and offer picturesque views of the raging Teesta River. To go to Yuksom, you must go through Legship and over a bridge. Yuksom is equally lovely. For the photographer in you, the entire trip to Yuksom will feature many snow-capped mountains and breathtaking scenery.

Does the Goechala Trek package include meals?

The programme includes all meals from Day 2 through Day 10 of the expedition. Additionally, the package includes dinner on Day 1.

How challenging is the Goecha La Trek?

Due to the rocky and steep terrain, the Goecha La hike ranges in difficulty from moderate to challenging. At a height of 16,200 feet, there are a few challenging twists as well, but the difficulties are worth it for the vista. Along the way, you'll pass through many forest areas that get progressively denser.

To successfully complete Goecha La, you must have completed a number of prior moderate to difficult treks, as it would take a lot of endurance to complete this one.
