Lakshadweep in Malayalam literally translates to “a hundred thousand islands”. The Lakshadweep forms a chain of exquisite coral islands which lies scattered in the Arabian Sea at the southwest extremity of western Indian peninsula. Formed out of thirty six little islands that have only ten people living in each one of them, Lakshadweep has pure white sand beaches, transparent turquoise sea water and colorful coral reefs. They are tropical paradises, providing people with silence and the beauty of nature. Lakshadweep’s locals are largely impacted by an amalgam of Arabs and South Asians and are hospitable people. How to Reach
By air
➔ Cochin International Airport connects Lakshadweep with the Indian subcontinent. Agatti is the only airport in Lakshadweep with scheduled flights from Air India and Kingfisher Airlines to Cochin, Kerala.
➔ Bangaram Island Resort can be reached by helicopter from Agatti during the rainy season and Kavaratti throughout the year. It takes about an hour and thirty minutes to reach Agatti from Cochin.
