In Liverpool, England's Edge Hill neighbourhood are a number of sizable underground tunnel excavations known as The Williamson Tunnels. They are believed to have been developed between 1810 and 1840 under the supervision of tobacco merchant, landowner, and philanthropist Joseph Williamson.
