You can only reach Dudhsagar by train or foot. Viewpoints around Dudhsagar Waterfalls

There are two points to see the Dudhsagar waterfall:

Dudhsagar Railway Bridge

The Dudhsagar Railway Bridge can be crossed. In this case, you will have a close-up shot of the debris pile, where one part is above your head and others are following from behind the bridge. You’ll also catch a glimpse of the falls for a few seconds if you're traveling by train to Madgaon in Goa. Passenger trains rarely halt at the Dudhsagar crossing.

The base of Dudhsagar waterfalls: In this view, one can see everything from top to bottom while walking down the base of the waterfall. This is the source of the Dudhsagar River. Alternatively, you can swim in this place if the stream does not flow too swiftly. You need to enter through a door called Dudhsagar waterfall, and there is the viewpoint. After the perspective, you will have to walk over some streams before reaching the bottom of the falls.

Of course, you can do both. If you have time and energy, travel to the Dudhsagar waterfalls via rail bridge and reach the base.

How to reach

By train

Dudhsagar Railway Station does not receive any passenger trains. All trains stop at both train stations: Kulem and Castle Rock. Either of these two stations can be reached easily via train. These trains will stop at Dudhsagar station whenever they get a red signal, and the passengers can get off the train.

After reaching Kulem or Castle Rock station via any train available, board the freight train to Sonaulim. From Sonaulim station, you can track the train tracks for 3 kilometers to reach the Dudhsagar Waterfalls railway bridge or the mud path for 4 kilometers that leads to the base of Dudhsagar Waterfall. You are advised to choose this route.

By walking

One may either drive through the road or ride on the passenger train to Kulem or Castle Rock train station. Now, pass over the train tracks to the Dudhsagar Waterfall rail bridge. To reach the falls, you’ll need to walk 11 km from Kulem and 14 km from Castle Rock. Listen for the train whistle. It is possible to disembark from the side of the platform when the train passes. Taking caution while walking through the many tunnels on this route, especially when approaching trains, is advisable. It will be convenient to carry a flashlight.

The easiest way to bypass this is by hiring a Kulem or Castle Rock guide. These include village residents who are well-versed in geography and who will direct you to an alternative route in the mud through the forest. You should have heard of such a vigil on the train tracks. Hiring a local guide will cost you around 500 rupees per person.

By jeep

If you take this approach, you will have to reach the Dudhsagar Jeep Taxi Station at Kulem Village, which is just a few minutes away from the Kulem Railway Station. Jeep Safari is a government-approved service, and it is very dependable. But the jeep route is shut off during the monsoon because the jeep trails are over-muddy and the rivers are hard to cross in heavy rains. Please be aware that bringing a personal motorcar on the jeep track is not allowed. It is 7 passengers per jeep, and if you count less than 7, you will need to join another nuclear group with 7 passengers before you go to the jeep counter. It will cost you around 2,800 rupees for the Jeep safari.
