Overview
Kodachadri is a famous trekking location situated in the western ghats of Karnataka, India. It features beautiful greenery and rich flora and fauna along with various viewpoints. The hike is approximately 14 km and 8.7 miles in length.
The journey starts in Nittur village which is the base village, you will trek through dense jungle meadows and rocky terrains. You need to have a good level of physical fitness which will help you trek through the challenging terrain.

Best time for Kodachadri trek
★ The best time for planning a Kodachadri trek is from October to February. Winters and post-monsoon seasons are best for planning this trek.
★ You will witness the lush green grasslands if you trek post-monsoon and during winters you will have a much clearer view of the skies as compared to monsoon.
★ You can also plan a trek in summer, in this season you will see the browner shade of this region.
★ It is advised to avoid trekking in monsoon as this place experiences heavy rainfall during monsoon which can be dangerous for trekkers.
How to reach (distance)
★ This trek starts from the village named Nittur which is situated in Shimoga the distance from Shimoga to Nittur village is 110 km.
★ You will have to pass from Nittur village if you are planning for the Kodachadri trek.
★ You can take public transport to reach the village from Bangalore. It will be an overnight journey which will take 8-9 hours to cover.
You can also reach here by your vehicle via Bangalore to Mumbai highway NH8. you will travel to Hiriyur from where you will head toward the state highway, SH24 which will take you to Shimoga.
