Cu Chi Tunnels is an elaborate network of underground tunnels located in the Cu Chi district of Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon), Vietnam. These tunnels were used during the Vietnam War by the Viet Cong soldiers as hiding places, communication, and supply routes, as well as for conducting surprise attacks on the enemy forces.
The tunnels are an impressive feat of engineering, with some of them running for miles and featuring several levels, including living quarters, kitchens, and hospitals. The tunnels are also booby-trapped with various devices, such as spike pits and swinging bamboo traps.
Today, visitors to the Cu Chi Tunnels can explore a small section of the tunnels that have been widened for tourism purposes. Visitors can also see displays of the traps used by the Viet Cong soldiers and learn about the history and tactics of the Vietnam War.
