Dhaulagiri circuit trek Highlights

  • The Dhaulagiri circuit trek is one of the toughest treks in Nepal. Basically the trek explores the central part of Nepal. There will be views of the local beauty of Dhaulagiri.
  • Everyone crosses the French pass, located at an altitude of 5360 metres and then the hidden valleys with the help of the guide.
  • From the hidden valley, there will also be an option for visiting the dhampus peak with a cost of permit. 
  • Air strips are mainly used to reach the location. The accommodation is provided in tents and food will be cooked by arranged cooks.

  • This trek mainly involves mountaineering which is included in the strenuous category.
  • An international leader will be there to accompany everyone with trekking. The group size required for this trek is a minimum of 5 to maximum 14 people.

Itinerary For Dhaulagiri circuit trek

1

Day 1 - Arrival in Tibet

Tibet

  • On this day, everyone arrives in Tibet on a flight and accommodation will be arranged in a hotel. Meals are not provided today.

Day 2 - To Pokhara

Pokhara

  • On this day, there will be a flight to Pokhara and breakfast will be provided from there. Accommodation will be in mount kailash hotel.

Day 3 - Drive to darbhanga then trek to dharapani

Dharapani

  • The drive to Darbhanga takes 4 hours. Then one has to walk for 3 hours and ascend 515 metres. There will also be a descent of 100 metres. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served and camping in the site.

Day 4 - Trek to muri

Muri

  • There will be a walk of 5 hours and then ascents and descents of 720 metres and 265 metres respectively. Meals three times the day will be provided.Camping in the site

Day 5 - Trek to boghara

Boghara

  • After walking for 9 kms,there will be an ascent and descent of 985 metres and 535 metres respectively. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided. Camping on the site overnight.

Day 6 - Trek to Dobang

Dobang

  • For the next few days, everyone treks along the myagdi khola river. 
  • On this day, After walking for 6 kms,there will be an ascent and descent of 950 metres and 285 metres respectively. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided. Camping on the site overnight.

Day 7 - Trek to sallaghari

  • On this day, After walking for 5 kms,there will be an ascent and descent of 795 metres and 110  metres respectively. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided. Camping on the site overnight.

Day 8 - Trek to Italian base camp

Sallaghari

  • On this day, After walking for 4 kms,there will be an ascent and descent of 520 metres and 75  metres respectively. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided. Camping on the site overnight.

Day 9 - Rest and acclimatisation

Italian base camp

  • On this day, everyone takes rest and acclimates after climbing 3660 metres.. Meals three times the day will be provided

Day 10 - Trek to glacier camp

Glacier camp

  • One traverses through the glaciers and reaches chonbarden gorge today. On this day, After walking for 6 kms,there will be an ascent of 735 metres and a descent walk. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided. Camping on the site overnight.

Day 11 - Rest and acclimatisation at glacier camp

Glacier camp

  • Before walking to the Dhaulagiri camp, this day can be utilised for getting acclimatised and taking rest. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided. Camping overnight in the site.

Day 12 - Trek to Dhaulagiri

Dhaulagiri

  • On this day, After walking for 5 kms,there will be an ascent of 650 metres and a descent walk for 65 metres. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided. Camping on the site overnight.

Day 13 - Rest and acclimatisation at Dhaulagiri

Dhaulagiri

  • A session will be organised by the trek leader. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided. Camping overnight will be in the site.

Day 14 - Trek via french col and to hidden valley

French colony

  • On this day, After walking for 8 kms,there will be an ascent of 820 metres and a descent for 320 metres. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided. Camping on the site overnight.

Day 15 - Hidden valley or dhampus peak

Dhampus

  • There are two options for this day:one is to go to hidden valleys and other is to go to the dhampus peak. The dhampus peak is situated at a height of 6060 metres. Camping will be in the site and meals three times the day will be provided.

Day 16 - Trek via dhampus peak and to alu bari

Dhampus peak

  • On this day, After walking for 10 kms,there will be an ascent and descent of 430 metres and1400  metres respectively. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided. Camping on the site overnight.

Day 17 - Trek to Jomsom

Jomsom

  • On this day, After walking for 10 kms,there will be an ascent and descent of 165 metres and 970  metres respectively. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided. Camping on the site overnight.

Day 18 - Flight to Pokhara and then to Kathmandu

Kathmandu

  • There is an option to extend the trek from this moment or to opt for drive instead of flight because of traffic reasons. Breakfast will be provided. Stay will be in hotel Tibet in Kathmandu.

Day 19 - Sightseeing in Kathmandu

Kathmandu

  • Everyone can go for sightseeing at the three heritage sites out of seven. There will be patan durbar square, boudhanath and Pashupatinath. Breakfast will be provided. Camping overnight.

Day 20 - Flight to home

Kathmandu

  • Everyone gets a flight from Kathmandu to go back to home by marking the end of the trek.

No. A Nepal visa for 30 days comes under the exclusion of this trek.

Can I extend my trek to the dhampus peak too?

Sure. Everyone is allowed to climb the dhampus peak with the support of the guide. But there is an extra charge for availing this.
