You'll be able to sleep during the trip if you choose an overnight bus. It is also convenient to take direct buses to Mcleod Ganj rather than boarding one to go to Dharamshala.

Yes, Kareri gets a lot of snow during some months because of its high altitude. In Kareri, the snowfall season typically begins in mid-December and finishes in February.
Kareri Lake is located near Dharamshala and Mcleodganj in Himachal Pradesh. If you are driving your own car, the best thing to do is drive all the way to Kareri Khas and start your trek from there.
