Art Deco welcome center

The Art Deco Welcome Center is located on Ocean Drive in the heart of the Miami Beach Historic District, which was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1979. Art Deco is a design style that originated in the 1920s and 1930s and was characterized by its bold geometric shapes, bright colors, and use of luxury materials such as chrome, glass, and marble.The building was originally designed by renowned Art Deco architect Henry Hohauser and completed in 1937. It served as the headquarters for the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce for many years before being renovated and converted into a visitor center in 1990.

The Art Deco Welcome Center's façade is adorned with many of the hallmarks of Art Deco design, including bold geometric patterns, stepped setbacks, and a striking color palette of white, black, and pastel shades. The building's original terrazzo floors and sweeping staircase have been meticulously restored, and visitors can take a self-guided tour of the facility's many exhibits and displays.

Inside the Art Deco Welcome Center, visitors can learn about the history of Miami Beach and its Art Deco architecture through interactive exhibits, photos, and videos.
