Highlights of Chiang Mai Zoo

Yes, you saw that right. The zoo also comprises an aquarium inhabiting a massive amount of marine life. This aquarium enables species of both fresh water and salt water to exist under one roof. The zoo has as many as 2,000 species of marine animals. The tunnel located here is the longest sea tunnel (133m) which gives you a 360-degree angle experience as you stand in the centre. The experience is genuinely wholesome. Intimidating sharks are also here. It is also a significant centre for studying marine life. Ever since the establishment of the aquarium, this place has attracted twice as many visitors as before. This tells that people like to come here and enjoy the sight of wildlife.

The endangered species of Giant Pandas are the highlight of the zoo. The charge to see the panda house is extra. They have been named as Chuang Chuang and Lin Hui. Humboldt penguins, native to South America, are also living here. There’s a possibility of witnessing them flapping their wings and paddling around adorably. This place is also home to lovable koalas that can be seen clinging to the branches of trees and stealing hearts of the visitors.

Predator animals such as wolves, tigers and lions form a part of this habitat. Talking about animal species, there are almost 400 here. Indochinese tiger, Asiatic black bear, Indian rhinoceros, flamingos, Giant anteater, are few of them. Hippopotamuses can be spotted near the waters playing cheerfully with their family. Other animals like giraffes and zebras are also found here. Two Asian elephants are also here.

A fun ride on a tram is provided by the zoo in the area. It provides a tour of the area and things and facts are properly explained.
