It was most recently renovated in 1983. The Hindu god of the temple originally came from the village of Taleigao The deity is Goddess Mahalakshmi (the Hindu Goddess of Wealth), made of black stone, with four hands and is placed in a silver roof. Devi in her calming or Satvik form. The goddess has been relocated from Mayem in Bicholim the town to the current location. and was moved to Bicholim in the 16th century to prevent Portuguese destruction.

Shree Mahadev is one of the family deity of Goddess Mahalaxmi. Shree Mahadev Temple is situated next to Shree Mahalaxmi Temple. Shree Mahalaxmi Temple is located on the right side of Shree Maruti Temple. It has a marbles idol of Shree Hanuman that is placed in a silver mandap. The temple contains two Lord Ganesha idols and one Shani Dev idol. Shree Ravalnath is also a deity of Goddess Mahalaxmi's family. The temple is located close to the Shree Mahadev Temple. Tulsi Vrindavan is located in front of the Shree Ravalnath Temple. Shree Rampurush and Shree Grampurush, like Shree Mahadev and Shree Ravalnath, are family deities of Goddess Mahalaxmi .The temple is located close to Shree Ravalnath.Temples of Shree Ravalnath and Shree Rampurush Grampurush are interconnected by a small passage. Just in front of this temple there is a small Ghumti of Shree Prumar facing the west direction.
