He realised that it would be difficult to raise the money necessary to protect the forest on his own, so he came up with the concept of employing tourism to do it.By employing poachers' tracking and foraging abilities to inform guests rather than kill animals, The Gibbon Experience turned them into guides.The villagers joined the project's support teams, helped build and maintain the tree houses, and soon the animals and forest were getting more and more protected.

Almost 120 residents, all Laotian citizens, have received permanent employment as a result of this project since it started.
