The Public Zoo of Kuala Lumpur, prominently known as Zoo Negara in Malaysia, covers 110 sections of land and houses 5137 creatures addressing 475 unique species. Since its opening in November 1963, the zoo has transformed into an open zoo, housing more than 90% of its animals in exhibits that are close to their natural environments. It is dedicated to the recreation, preservation, education, research, and training of a wide variety of animal and plant species, including endangered and exotic ones.
The Giant Panda Conservation Center is the most well-known of Zoo Negara's 44 exhibits, where visitors can see a few adorable giant pandas. Gibbons, silver leaf monkeys, and macaques can be found in the Monkey and Lesser Apes exhibit, while crocodiles, snakes, terrapins, and tortoises can be found in the Reptile Park. Cockatoos, macaws, storks, swans, and pelicans are among the many species of birds that can be observed by bird watchers at Lake Birds and Bird Aviary. Children's World is very popular with kids because it has a lot of cute animals, like ducks, rabbits, and parrots.
Nocturnal Exhibits has fruit bats, Malayan tapirs, and mouse deer, while Malaysian Elephants has three elephants. The Mammal Kingdom has cats, raccoons, leopards, and otters, among other animals, while Savannah Walk has zebras, giraffes, ostriches, and white rhinoceroses. A wide range of fish and invertebrates can be found in the Freshwater Aquarium, which is designed for marine life enthusiasts. A multi-animal show featuring macaques, sea lions, and macaws is a must-see in addition to the displays.
