Places to visit in Kausani

The enthralling Rudradhari Falls is located 12 kilometres from Kausani, surrounded by paddy fields and green pine forests. On the way to the Adi Kailash region, one can also explore the mysteries of the ancient caves located near the falls. According to legend, this location is associated with Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. The Shiva Temple of Someshwar is close to the waterfalls.

Gwaldam is a sliver of heaven, untouched and picture-perfect. There are dazzling hills covered in tall pine trees, terraced farms on the enchanting hill slopes, and little wooden houses strewn about as far as the eye can see. The entire area is covered in orchids, which adds to the beauty of the scenery. Gwaldam is an excellent location for viewing the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas.

Pinnath, a perfect way to rekindle your spirits, is only a 5-kilometer trek from Kausani. This place, known for its temple, provides a sense of pleasure when surrounded by nature's wilderness. The temple of the same name, which overlooks the Kosi River, is dedicated to Bhairon and has an intriguing structure.

Baijnath, a beautiful ancient town in the eastern half of the Garhwal Himalayas, is famous for the Baijnath Temple and other ancient temples, many of which are now in ruins. It is an excellent day trip for people staying in Kausani and Almora.

Kausani Tea Estate is located 5 kilometres from the main town and covers an area of 208 hectares. The establishment also arranges for a short tour of their manufacturing process, which is led by their own staff. There, one can sample and purchase various flavoured teas.

An observatory called Stargate can be found deep in the Himalayas of Kausani, Uttarakhand. It is a dedicated location for viewing celestial objects such as moons, planets, star clusters, constellations, nebulas, distant galaxies, stargazing, and astrophotography. This observatory also houses a space-themed museum, restaurant, and shop.

Sumitranandan Pant, one of the most well-known poets of modern Indian Hindi literature, was born in Kausani. Pant  museum has been dedicated to him, and it houses manuscripts of his poems, draught copies of his literary work, daily use items, letters, photographs, and awards.

This small hamlet, designed by the founder of the Chand dynasty, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Kausani due to the religious significance attached to it. Raja Som Chand built an ancient temple in Someshwar with a long-standing stone carved Lord Shiva as its chief deity. The temple has beautiful architecture and is built on a hill, providing a breathtaking view of the surrounding area.

Dandeshwar Temple is one of 124 temples dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva. It is one of the most beautiful sights in Kausani and is located slightly upstream from the main complex. It is a visual and visceral delight, with a picturesque landscape that provides a calming retreat for all visitors. The cascading waterfalls are clearly visible, creating a dream-like atmosphere.

The Anasakti Ashram is distinguished by the presence of a statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the entrance. This is where Gandhiji stayed for a long time and where he wrote the Anasakti Yog, which is also known as the gospel of selfless action. It's no surprise that the ashram is one of the top Kausani tourist attractions.
