This Shimla–Kalpa–Chitkul tour was simply breathtaking. Shimla’s old-world charm was balanced by the remote beauty of Kalpa and the serene Himalayas at Chitkul. Road journeys were long but comfortable, and staying in Himachali-style guesthouses added an authentic touch. Highly recommended.

Yes — some stretches of road were long and winding, especially from Shimla to Kalpa/Chitkul. But the views — mountains, valleys, rivers — totally made up for it. The homestays and local food were a bonus.

Chitkul especially impressed me — the Baspa river, the wooden houses, the apple orchards, and the view of snow-clad peaks was surreal. Kalpa’s valley views and Shimla’s colonial charm were great too. A very fulfilling getaway for a nature lover.
