It has a rich history associated with it and is located in the Alwar district of Rajasthan, it is known as Sariska National Park Safari. It was a reserve of the Alwar royal family, later covert as a wildlife sanctuary in 1958. The park was given more protected status as a national park in 1979 and then was under Project Tiger in 1990 meant for the tiger of Bengal.
