Itinerary For Auden's Col trek, Uttarakhand

Day 1 - Delhi to Haridwar

Haridwar

  • Take the night train, NDLS Dehradun A/C Express, leaving New Delhi at 11:55 AM and reaching Haridwar in the morning (next day); around 04:00.

Day 2 - Khalting glacier camp-l to Khalting Glacier camp-ll

Khalting glacier

  • Today's trek will be exciting as it will take you to the heart of the Himalayas.
  • Enjoy the spectacular view of Hills, majestic glaciers and intricate ice formations and reach Khatling Glacier Camp-II.
  • One night stay in the camp.

Day 3 - Khatling Glacier to Hatling Cave / Tambakunda

Tambakunda

  • After breakfast, start your descent down the glacier and go to the edge of the Khatling Glacier.
  • The view of hundreds of metres of ice walls is simply breathtaking and a real treat for trekkers; The Bhilangana River also adds to this stunning view.
  • Visit Hatling Cave or Tambakund and spend a day at the campsite.

Day 4 - buffer / Day of Emergency

  • Today will be a buffer day if the Badaram Airway is on its way.
  • Overnight camping at khatling Cave.

Day 5 - Road from Khatling Cave to Harsoli

  • Today you will walk through a forest of blue oak, rock, deodar, juniper and rhododendron.
  • You will reach Harsoli and camp next to the flowing stream.

Day 6 - Harsoli to Ganges

Ganges

  • Wake up in the morning and continue your journey through the lush forest; after a long walk in high altitudes, you can expect some warmth when you come down.
  • On the way, expect a steep climb after passing some houses on the banks of the Bhilangana river.
  • One night stay will be at Camp / Hotel in Gangiri

Day 7 - Ganges to Ghuttu

Ghuttu

  • Today will be a long day and you will descend through the pine forest and through the village of Reeh.
  • The road passes at the beginning of the road, 4 km from Ghuttu.
  • One night stay will be at a hotel in Ghuttu.

Day 8 - Drive Type Ghuttu - Haridwar, Train from Haridwar - Delhi

Delhi

  • On the last day of this expedition, start at leisure and head towards Haridwar, where you can board the Shatabdi Express and reach Delhi at 10:45am.

Day 9 - Haridwar to Uttarkashi

Uttarkashi

  • After reaching Haridwar, take a car and drive directly to Uttarkashi for 7 hours; on the way, breakfast.
  • Arrive at Uttarkashi, check into the hotel and spend the night.

Day 10 - From Uttarkashi, drive to Gangotri (3,050 m).

Gangotri

  • Today, you will cross Harsil on the banks of Bhairon Ghati, Bhairav Ganga, after the famous 'Wilson Apple', where a steel truss bridge overlooks a very deep valle
  • After a 4-5 hour drive, reach Gangotri and check-in at the hotel.
  • Come evening, visit the geysers and witness a magnificent 'aarti' ceremony on one of the banks of the holy Ganges.

Day 11 - Acclimatisation day in Gangotri Trekking to Bhoj Harak, Lake Kedarta

Bhoj Harak

  • This morning; After breakfast, walk or rather walk to Kedartal Lake for acclimatisation.
  • The trail takes you through a rocky and steep forest to a small campsite at Bhoj Harak (3,780m).

Day 12 - Gangotri to Nalla Camp (3,760 m) Bhagirathi River, Rudragaira Nalla, Jogin and Kedartal Peak

Kedartal Peak

  • The footpath starts from the right side of the valley and ascends to the Nalla camp.
  • First, you will start on the left bank of Bhagirathi river and walk for about 30 minutes before moving towards Rudragaira Nalla.
  • The climb gradually goes up through pine forests and rocks, revealing lofty Himalayan peaks such as Jogin and Kedartal.
  • One night, stay at the camp.

Day 13 - From Nalla Camp to Gangotri-I Base Camp (4500m)

Gangotri

  • The day started with a steep climb to the Big Meadow, followed by another steep climb to the river crossing and Rudugaira Base Camp.
  • After that, continue across the glacier to Gangotri-I base camp, where you will stay overnight.

Day 14 - One day for acclimatisation

  • Today is a day to relax and get used to the weather.
  • A short walk around the camp will be the main agenda of the day.

Day 15 - From Base Camp Gangotri-I to Base Camp Auden (4,800m)

Auden

  • Hiking for the day is challenging and requires high energy levels.
  • With the Gangotri Range (G1, G2 & G3) in the north and the Jogin Range (J1, J2) in the south, you will be heading towards the head of the valley.
