Itinerary For Miyar Valley Trek Himachal

Day 1 - Reach Khanjer from Manali | 140 km | 5-6 hours

  • We will arrange a tempo traveller for the trekkers to reach the start point of the trek (Khanjer) from Manali. 
  • During this journey from Manali to Khanjer, you can enjoy the views of scenic Lahaul Valley, passing through Udaipur and Keylong districts. 
  • Upon reaching Khanjer, we’ll check into the local homestay, where you can experience warm hospitality and traditions. 
  • Stay overnight in Khanjer and sleep well for the next day’s adventure.

Day 2 - Trek to Yolling from Khanjer | 9 km | 11,564 feet to 12,345 feet

  • Today we’ll start our trek from Khanjer to Yolling. 
  • This will be a less demanding walk-through of zigzag trails leading to Tharang. 
  • Tharang is a picturesque point along the way. 
  • After hours of trekking, we’ll reach Yolling at a height of 12,345 feet. 
  • Have dinner and stay overnight in the camps.

Day 3 - Trek to Zardong from Yolling | 12 km | 12,345 feet to 12,667 feet

  • Today we will start trekking to Zardong, passing through village routes featuring mountains on one side and farmlands on the other. 
  • To reach Zardong, we’ll have to cross the wooden river bridge and walk through the open fields.
  • Upon reaching Zardong, we’ll set up our tents for an overnight camp stay amidst the majestic Himalayan peaks. 
  • After this, you can relax and enjoy the tranquillity of the surroundings. 
  • Stay overnight in camps at Zardong.

Day 4 - Trek to Palpu from Zardong via Kesar Yon Choo | 12 km | 12,667 feet to 12,782 feet

  • We will start our day with a short descent, followed by a steep ascent to the ancient Stupa. 
  • Moving forward on the trek to Palpu, we’ll see colourful landscapes offering eye-pleasing scenery. 
  • The camps at Palpu will be placed in a large valley with majestic mountains in the backdrop. 
  • Night temperature can be cool, making it perfect to sit by a cosy bonfire and feel the warmth while enjoying the peaceful night.

Day 5 - Trek to Gompa from Palpu | 12 km | 2,782 feet to 12,828 feet

  • Wake up early in the morning and get ready for a 12 km-long trek to the Gompa at 12,828 feet in height. 
  • To reach Gompa from Palpu, we’ll trek through gentle slopes and rocky paths, leading us to Gompa, a spiritual place known for serenity and monastic vibes. 
  • The tranquil atmosphere of this place is perfect for reflection and meditation. 
  • Enjoy an overnight camp stay at Gompa under a clear sky.

Day 6 - Trek back to Tharang from Gompa | 7.5 km | 12,828 feet to 12,270 feet

  • Today we’ll descend to Tharang from Gompa, passing through scenic landscapes, wildflowers, and picturesque streams. 
  • Today’s trek is less demanding, allowing trekkers to enjoy the beauty peacefully. 
  • Upon reaching Tharang, head to your camps set amidst the picturesque meadows. 
  • Enjoy your final night surrounded by the majestic Himalayan Peaks and take a moment to reflect on your exciting journey so far.

Day 7 - Trek to Khanjer from Tharang and Back to Manali |7.5 km | 5-6 hours | 12,270 feet to 6,730 feet via 11,564 feet

  • Here comes the end of this thrilling trek journey. 
  • We’ll embark on the final descent to Khanjer from Tharang. 
  • The trek ends in Khanjer, and from here we’ll proceed to drive toward Manali 
  • This will be a 140 km driv,e which will take almost 5 to 6 hours to complete. 
  • Reach Manali and head back home with a bag full of cherishable memories.

How to reach Miyar Valley?

To reach Miyar Valley, you’ll have to reach Manali by train (Joginder Nagar), air (Bhuntar), or roadways. Upon reaching Manali, you can hire a taxi to Lahaul region’s Udaipur and then change taxis or take a bus to Shukto, Miyar Valley Trek’s start point. Then from Shukto, you’ll have to reach Khanjar with a short trek spanning about 15 to 25 minutes.
