Itinerary For Snow Leopard Safari, ladakh

Day 1 - Chandigarh to Rampur

Rampur

  • We commenced our journey toward Rampur in a private vehicle. 
  • The road to Rampur during winter mornings is cloaked in a serene blanket of fog and snow, offering picturesque views. 
  • Rampur, nestled in the Himalayas and approximately 120 kilometers from Shimla, is a charming village enriched by apple farming and tourism
  •  We rested and spent the night in a guest house.

Day 2 - Rampur to Kaza

Kaza

  • Our day begins early as we embark on a road trip along the Hindustan Tibet Highway. This renowned route is celebrated for its stunning vistas and its proximity to Tibet. 
  • We pass through Nako, the last village in the Kinnaur district, where we explore the enchanting Nako Lake. 
  • Continuing our journey, we cross a bridge over the Spiti River after Sumdo and head to Tabo. 
  • On the way to Kaza, we stop at the striking Dhankar Monastery, perched atop a cliff in Dhankar village.
  •  By late evening, we arrive in Kaza and settle into a homestay for the night.

Day 3 - Kaza to Chicham

Chicham

  • Our next destination is Chicham, and we pass through Langza, Key Monastery, perched atop a hill, and Kibber village. 
  • Our guide will  brief you about the upcoming trail, and the day is spent exploring Chicham village to acclimatize and prepare for the upcoming trek. 
  • Staying hydrated in high altitudes, even when not thirsty, is crucial to prevent Altitude Sickness. 
  • The evening is a time for relaxation and indulging in local delicacies.

Day 4 - Day 4 to 7: Snow Leopard Spotting (4 days)

Chicham

  • There's no fixed itinerary; our wildlife guide dictates our plans to maximize Snow     Leopard sightings.
  • Early in the morning, our experienced trackers set out in search of Blue Sheep, Ibex, Wolf, Red Fox, and the elusive Snow Leopard. 
  • These days are devoted to seeking out Snow Leopards and the rich wildlife of the area. The extreme winter cold forces these animals to lower altitudes.
  • Chicham and Kibber wildlife sanctuary, spanning altitudes from 3,300m to 6,400m, teems with wildlife. 
  • Binoculars are recommended for scanning the slopes, and our wildlife guide carries a spotting scope for day walks. He also ventures out in the early mornings and late evenings to search for signs of animal movement. 
  • Accommodations during these days are in cozy mud-built home-stays.

Day 8 - Chicham to Kalpa

Kalpa

  • We depart from Chicham and head to Kalpa, then proceed to Tabo, a small hamlet in the Lahaul and Spiti district. 
  • Tabo Gompa, a thousand-year-old Buddhist monastery complex, boasts nine sub-temples and visible Tabo caves that once served as shelters for monks escaping harsh Himalayan winters.
  •  On the way to Kalpa, we catch sight of the magnificent Kinner Kailash Peak at 7549 feet and the renowned Suicide Point.
  •  As we approach Reckong Peo and further ascend to Kalpa, the majestic peaks continue to captivate. 
  • Then We spent the night in a hotel.

Day 9 - Kalpa to Chandigarh

Chandigarh

  • On the final day of the tour, we continue our journey to Chandigarh, with misty roads evoking nostalgic feelings of our Spiti Valley road trip. 
  • We bid you farewell, dropping you at the airport by 5 pm, marking the end of our unforgettable Snow Leopard Trek.
