By Air

Most airlines operate flights to Srinagar’s Sheikh-Ul-Alam airport. Metro cities like New Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Mumbai are directly connected to Srinagar by air.

 

By Train

➔ The nearest railway station to Srinagar is Jammu. Jammu is again well connected to major junction stations of India.

By Road

➔ From Jammu you can take a can/taxi to Srinagar which will take around 7-8 hours to reach and the public bus will take 10 hours to reach Srinagar.

Itinerary For Tarsar Marsar Trek from Aru

1

Day 1 - Aru to Lidderwat

  • Start your trek meeting your guide at respective point.
  • Get familiar with your trekmates.
  • This trek is 10 km long and it will take around 5-6 hours.
  • During this trek you will pass by Nabdkei gujjar named settlements across the Lidderwat river.
  • After reaching Lidderwat we’ll stay for the night.
  • Enjoy your dinner with stars and your trekmates.

Day 2 - Lidderwat to shekwas

  • Wake up early to enjoy the morning view.
  • Start your trek after breakfast.
  • The trail heads into a pine forest after leaving Lidderwat Valley and following the Lidder River. You can cross the Lidder River via a wooden bridge, and after hiking alongside it for 30 minutes, you'll arrive at Homwas, a little gully.
  • The path is straight and pleasant immediately after Homwas, though it is not for very long.
  •  After that, make a sharp climb through a forest of Bhoj trees and a few more valleys before reaching Shekwas, another meadow at an elevation of 11,000 feet, where you will spend the night in a tent.

Day 3 - Shekwas to the Tarsar lake

  • After breakfast , start your trek.
  • The trail crosses several mountain streams and ridges. 
  • The stunning almond-shaped Tarsar lake will be visible for the first time after two hours of strenuous climbing and trekking. 
  • The location inspires viewers to get to the lake as soon as possible
  • This campsite is truly magical for the travelers.
  • Upon reaching the campsite, stay for the night.

Day 4 - Trasar to Sundersar

  • You will witness the surprising beauty of Sundersar lake today.
  • Beginning in Tarsar Valley, the trek proceeds toward Shekwas Valley. 
  • You will leave Bakharwal Thatch behind as you travel through verdant grasslands by following the streams and shepherd's trail.
  • After the trek of 5 kms you will unfold the coveted Sundersar lake and the valley adjacent to it.
  • End of the day, Retire to your tents.

Day 4 - Sundersar to Homawas via Marsar

  • After having your tasty and healthiest breakfast, start your trek.
  • Today’s trek will be 9 km long and it will take around 7 hours.
  • You can only see Marsar Lake once you reach the ridges. 
  • At a height of 13400 feet is Marsar, the twin lake of Tarsar. 
  • The lake is difficult to find because it is usually obscured by clouds. 
  • The most captivating aspect of this hike is the view of Marsar Lake from an overhanging cliff at the foot of mountains.
  • Camp for the night at Homawas.

Day 6 - Trek back to Aru

  • After breakfast, start your 14 km trek to Aru.
  • Say goodbye to this beautiful valley.
  • Reach Aru and our ends here.
