There is no railway station in Tawang, so one can not reach the town directly by train. The nearest major railway stations are Rangapara Railway Station located in Tezpur and Guwahati Railway Station.The Rangapara Railway station is located 314 km away from Tawang, and is linked well to all major cities of India like Kolkata, Delhi, Chennai, etc. Once you get here, you can easily find a cab or bus to reach Tawang. Another railway station near Tawang is Guwahati Railway Station. Guwahati is the largest city in Assam so it is well connected in all the manner for tourists to reach here.

Guwahati is 440 km from Tawang. You have many options like travelling in a bus. There are regular buses running between the two cities. Or one can also hire a cab to reach Tawang from Guwahati.
