In fact, the entire island has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its archaeological significance. Just a few miles from the cosmopolitan island of Mykonos, the Aegean Sea is home to an ancient ark of history. Because of the legend that the goddess Artemis and the god of light Apollo were born there, the island was considered sacrosanct and no mortal was ever permitted to give birth there.
No mortals would be permitted to pass away there either, despite the island's history as a nursery of gods. As a result, in addition to serving as a prominent site for religion and commerce, the island also had a reputation for exclusivity. Even during the height of the Delian Alliance, pregnant women and those who were close to passing away would be sent to Rineia, an adjacent island.

Delos Archaeological Museum -
The Delos Archaeological Museum is a must-see addition to the other locations you will visit during your day of island tour. The majority of the items on display were discovered during archaeological excavations conducted near the museum, giving the statues, mosaics, and pottery a stronger sense of cultural significance.
The Scared Way -
The Sacred Way is a paved area that was previously lined with stores and stalls, much like a contemporary marketplace. It is also referred to as The Sacred Precinct. 13 meters broad is how wide the grand avenue is. Through colonnaded porticos, you enter the Sacred Way, which leads to a number of Apollo-related ruined temples.
House of Cleopatra -
The recently discovered remnants of the old home of a wealthy couple named Cleopatra and Dioscurides are known as The House of Cleopatra. The mansion was roomy and vast, suited for a wealthy couple at the time, but it shouldn't be confused with the Egyptian queen's home.
The birthplace of Apollo, the God of light, Delos Islet, is by far the best to visit in October. You will be able to travel to the Mediterranean's literal brightest place! Milder weather is essential because visiting the archaeological site is the only thing the island has to offer!
