Anamudi

Anamudi is the highest peak in Southern India, reaching a lofty height of 8,842 feet. It is a trekker's paradise and a photographer's dream. The mountain, which is located in the Western Ghats in the Keralan district of Idukki, draws both domestic and foreign visitors with its stunning views. Although being the tallest in the Western Ghats, the summit does not receive any snowfall because of its subtropical location.

It is home to numerous animal and bird species due to its extensive evergreen woods and meandering rivers. It is exceptional for housing Nilgiri Tahr and Gaur, two critically endangered Asiatic elephants. The rare Neelakurinji blooms can also be found in woodlands.

Because of the mountain's resemblance to an elephant's head, Anamudi is also known as "elephant's forehead" in common speech. It is referred to as the "Everest of South India" since it is the highest peak in the Western Ghats. The summit is said to have the greatest topographic isolation in all of India.

Trekking and hiking are adventurous activities that can be done at Anamudi Peak. One of Southern India's most thrilling trekking routes can be found there. The breathtaking beauty of the mountain with wild life attracts many photographers. For those living in the area as well as those visiting the nearby cities, it makes for the ideal picnic location. It is favoured by many visitors as the best location for a weekend escape. There are places to camp close to the summit where you may pitch a tent and take in the scenery.

Anamudi has several  intriguing entry points that offer access to the mountain and its  girding areas. Then are some of the most popular entry points  

Eravikulam National Park This is the most popular entry point to Anamudi. The  public demesne is home to several species of foliage and fauna, including the Nilgiri tahr, and offers several  touring trails that lead to the  peak of Anamudi.  

Rajamalai Rajamalai is a small  vill located near the Eravikulam National Park, and it serves as a base camp for pedestrians and  trampers.  

Marayoor Marayoor is a small  city located on the eastern  pitches of Anamudi, and it's known for its sandalwood  timbers,  neolithic  gemstone  oils, and sugarcane  granges.  

Munnar Munnar is a popular hill station located near Anamudi. It's known for its tea colonies, scenic beauty, and wildlife sanctuaries.  

Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary This wildlife sanctuary is located on the eastern  pitches of Anamudi and is home to several species of foliage and fauna, including the  risked grizzled giant squirrel. 

Anamudi is located about 13 km from Munnar. It's  positioned in the southern part of Eravikulam National Park where the three hills Cardamom, Anaimalai, and Palani intersect.
