One of the most spiritual sites and top tourist attractions in Chamba is the Champavati Temple, which is close to the Police Post and Treasury building. Raja Sahil Varman erected it in honour of Champavati, who was her daughter. The temple may be distinguished from others because to its Shikhara design and numerous ornate stone carvings. As the weather is so lovely at this period, March through June are the finest months to visit a temple. It has cylindrical constructions that are divided into groups of five to nine, similar to Nepalese architectural elements. Vasuki Naga, Wazir, and Goddess Mahisasuramardini, a form of Lady Durga, all have shrines at this temple.
Its architecture is highly impressive, and tourists are in awe of the elaborate carvings that adorn its walls and shikhara (spire)-style elements that are evocative of Nepalese architecture. It differs from other temples in the area due to a large wheel on the rooftop.

The Archeological Survey of India looks after the temple, which has significant historical and archaeological importance. Every year, especially during Navratri, the shrine receives millions of Hindu visitors.

The Champavati Temple was established by King Sahil Varman, whose daughter Champavati was. For many Hindus, it is of enormous historical and religious significance. The goddess Mahisasuramardini, an incarnation of Lady Durga, is worshipped in this temple.
Freestanding temples frequently have a mountain-like spire, called a vimana in South India and a Shikhar in North India, which can be curved. It is positioned in front of the shrine together with a typical pillar, or dhvaj, and is the mount or chariot of the temple's main deity.
