Hussain Sagar Lake is located across a branch of the River Musi and spans a distance of 5.7 kilometres. Hyderabad and Secunderabad are separated by a lake. At the centre of the lake is a massive statue of the Buddha. This magnificently carved monolithic statue was built in 1992 and is located on Gibraltar Rock. This artificial lake has a maximum depth of 32 feet.
Hazrat Hussain Shah Wali constructed the man-made lake in 1562 as a sign of gratitude for the Andhra Pradesh monarch of the time. The Tank Bund, a 3-kilometre long dam constructed across the lake, is another centrepiece of the site. One of Telangana's most well-liked waterfront boulevards is The Tank Bund. Hussain Sagar, which bears his name, is Asia's largest man-made lake. Because of its form, Hussain Sagar was named the Heart of the World by the UNWTO in September 2012. In 2013, in Madrid, Mr Taleb Rifai, Secretary General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization, unveiled the emblem for Hussain Sagar Lake's "Heart of the World" designation.
A gift of thanks from Hazrat Hussain Shah Wali to Emperor Ibrahim Quli Qutub Shah for aiding his recovery during his illness, the lake was constructed in 1563 AD. The body of water was once constructed over a bund or dam, today known as the Tank Bund.
The primary reason for creating the lake was to use its water for agriculture and other uses involving water. Between 1860 and 1930, it served as a supply of drinking water for the inhabitants of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

One of Hyderabad's most lovely promenades, the Tank Bund dam spans Hussain Sagar Lake. Thirty-three monuments of well-known individuals from Secunderabad and Hyderabad line the dam. The Department of Culture hosts cultural events here every Sunday evening. One of the most well-liked places in Hyderabad for morning and evening strolls is The Bund.
The 3-hectare Lumbini Park is a tiny public park that is situated in the center of Hyderabad. The park was built in 1994, and the Buddha Purnima Project Authority looks after it. The park is home to India's first multimedia fountain performance. The presentation reenacts historical events in Hyderabad using video, theatre, sound effects, and laser animation.
The Buddha Statue is the highest monolithic statue of Gautama Buddha in India, standing impressively on the Rock of Gibraltar in the centre of Hussain Sagar. In 1985, NT Rama Rao, the state of Andhra Pradesh's then-prime minister, erected the statue, which is fifteen metres high. Rao intended to accomplish a feat akin to that of the Statue of Liberty in America at home.
Birla Mandir is a Hindu temple devoted to Lord Venkateswara that was constructed on the lofty eminence of Naubat Pahad. The temple, which covers a 13-acre tract of land, took more than ten years to build and was finally dedicated in 1976 by Swami Raganathananda of the Ramakrishna Mission.
The winter months, between November and February, are ideal for visiting the lake because they are cool and peaceful. Showers are moderate, if not nonexistent, and the temperature stays quite low during this time.
But, between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM, right before sunset, would be the ideal time of day to explore the lake. As the sun begins to set, the sky begins to change colours. Although the temperature is still cool, it is also advisable to go on a boat excursion during this time.
