Contrary to expectations, the interiors of the Igloo Café remain comfortably warm, thanks to the thick walls of the igloo acting as excellent insulation. This unique concept has made the café a magnet for tourists during the holiday season, drawing visitors from across the country. Notably, in 2021, the igloo café built at Kolahoi ski resort claimed the title of being the highest in Asia.
The Igloo Café, erected in 2022, stands at an impressive height of 37.5 feet with a diameter of 44.4 feet, making it a notable structure. Notably, the previous year's igloo already held the title of being the tallest in all of Asia.
Inside, the café has evolved to accommodate around 40 guests simultaneously, a substantial increase from the previous year's capacity of 16 guests across four tables. The circular tables within are a unique touch, entirely crafted from snow.
Divided into two sections, the café not only offers a comfortable seating area but also boasts an art space adorned with intricate wall carvings. Enhancing the chilly seating experience, snow chairs are furnished with seat covers made from cozy sheepskin.
Constructed by Syed Wasim Shah in a two-month timeframe, the Igloo Café provides both dine-in and takeaway services. Its specialization in traditional Kashmiri cuisine adds a unique flavor to the experience. Open until mid-March, the café remains a fascinating and inviting destination for visitors before concluding its season.
