National Orchid Garden

The National Orchid Garden, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is situated on the highest elevation in the Singapore Botanical Gardens. More than two thousand species and hybrids reside in the Garden.

It is 8 acres in size and divided into four distinct colour zones, with a stunning floral display that is meticulously maintained. Yellow and gold-colored orchids are prevalent in the springtime region.


The summer colour zones consist of orchids with attention-grabbing dark red and pink hues. The White colour zone contains orchids primarily composed of winter-appropriate blues and whites, while the Autumn colour zone is brimming with mature-colored orchids.

The orchard contains uncommon varieties of fruit in various sizes and shapes. Each year, new flower varieties are added, making a return visit to this garden absolutely worthwhile. The garden is a wonderful place to learn about the various types of orchids and the climatic conditions in which they thrive.

This is a beautiful location for nature walks or a 90-minute nature strolling tour that will take you through all the different types. The tour teaches those who are extremely curious about the hybridisation process and the methods of pollination in various seasons.

The garden is wheelchair accessible and has signposts at key locations to facilitate a quick and simple tour. There are numerous activities and locations within the garden that will enhance your experience here.

Gardens Shops

The Gardens Shops located here are a delight for bibliophiles, accessory devotees, and souvenir collectors. The store has some of the finest collections, which entice every customer to purchase something.


Tan Hoon Siang Mist House

Here you will discover the most vibrant and rare orchid varieties you have ever seen. This is a wonderful location to take photographs and relax while appreciating the abundance of nature nearby.


Cool House 

The cold house is a Flora Conservatory where the temperature is kept cold to preserve the plants. It also contains a few varieties of carnivorous plants, such as pitcher plants. They are first planted here under optimal conditions before being returned to the garden for continued growth.


VIP Garden

This section of the garden is so named because it contains orchids with celebrity names, including Ban Ki-moon, Margaret Thatcher, and many others. These gorgeous and vibrant orchids are named after wealthy and renowned individuals.

Because great individuals and their contributions were considered, the name VIP garden was ultimately chosen. People enjoy gathering here to take in the fresh air and engage in their regular exercise and jogging.


Burkill Hall 

You will adore Burkill Hall, which is situated at the garden's highest point. It is named after Isaac and Humphrey Burkill, who resided at this location as father and son.


Celebrity Garden 

In addition to Foreign Dignitaries, popular film personalities such as Shahrukh Khan have their own named orchids.


Vanda Miss Joaquin Collection

Vanda Miss Joaquin is a type of orchid hybrid and Singapore's national flower. You will find a large collection of Miss Joaquin orchids that blossom throughout the year near the weeping willow.


Heritage Orchid Garden

The Heritage Orchid Garden is a tribute to the significance of orchids in Singapore's history and culture. It is home to a variety of purple, yellow, and orange orchids.

The orchids in the Heritage Orchid Garden bear the names of illustrious historical figures. While the Arachnis orchid is named for Maggie Oei, the Aranthera orchid is named for Beatrice Ng.


Yuen Peng McNeice Bromeliad Collection


The Yuen Peng McNeice Bromeliad Collection is one of the most significant components of the Tropical Montane Orchidium at the National Orchid Garden. It is named after Lady Yuen Peng McNeice, who passed away.

The display area is approximately 620 square metres in size and was inspired by the tropical forests of Central and South America. This attraction has been redesigned to resemble a Neotropical forest habitat at a mid-elevation of 650 to 1,000 metres, complete with an extensive collection of orchids, bromeliads, climbers, and Neotropics.


Tropical Montane Orchidarium 

The Tropical Montane Orchidarium is one of the most popular attractions in the National Orchid Garden, which is renowned for its enchanted paths that travel through a concealed ravine and a glass house.

The National Orchid Garden is open all year round, but the best time to visit would be during the dry season from March to May, when the weather is more pleasant and the orchids are in full bloom. However, this is also the peak season for visitors, so the garden may be crowded during this time.
