summary

A respected Buddhist holy site, Paro Taktsang, also known as Tiger's Nest or Taktsang Palphug Monastery, is located in Bhutan's upper valley on a cliffside. This temple, which stands 10240 feet above the Paro valley on a perilous cliff and is only accessible by a challenging road, has come to represent Bhutan. While being challenging to reach due to its remote position, which also makes it attractive, unusual, and an unforgettable destination, it is one of the top attractions to see in Paro.

The shining lights, gilded dome, and idols make the interior look even more gorgeous. A large statue of a tiger is located in the rock-carved hall of a thousand Buddhas. The stairs that connect the buildings are carved out of the rocks, and each building has windows that offer a stunning view. The monks rotate the temple's main shrine, the prayer wheel, each morning at four in the morning to mark the beginning of a new day. Granite slopes that nearly reach verticality line Paro Chu's right flank. In this context, the word "Chu" in Bhutanese refers to rivers or water. He is honored in the Padmasambhava shrine, also known as the Gu-Ru mTshan-bragged Lhakhang.

Highlights of Tiger’S Nest Monastery

At Paro, Bhutan, there is a revered Buddhist monument called the Tiger's Nest Monastery. Around the cave where Guru Rinpoche initially meditated and brought Buddhism to Bhutan, it was built in 1692. According to tradition, Guru Rinpoche arrived here from Tibet on the back of a tigress, earning the place the nickname "Tiger's Nest."

The monks' living quarters are located in four of the monastery's temples. Yet with the daily influx of tourists, Paro Takstang continues to be used as a monastery.

Best time to visit Tiger’S Nest Monastery

Taktsang is best visited between September and November or March and April when the weather is clearest and coziest due to seasonal fluctuations in temperature.

Summers: The average high temperature in the summertime is between 15° and 20°. A delightful natural breeze, a comfortable temperature, and a bright sky are present right now. You will be able to enjoy your journey at this time thanks to a beautiful sky and a nice, natural air conditioner. March through April are the best months to visit Paro.

Monsoon: The monsoon season, which lasts from July to September in both India and Bhutan, is quite similar. It was a new experience for me, I am so glad that they have given a practice session to become familiar with the safety measures. They were heavy but after the practice, I felt at ease and started the activity. The underwater world is so amazing and different like we see in movies. A package that gave me complete satisfaction.
