Dodital is a freshwater lake located in the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand state which originates from the river of Asi Ganga. With its serene and calm environments, Dodital lake trek is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful treks in Uttarakhand. It is an emerald lake surrounded by high mountains located at a height of 3,024 meters above sea level. Well, this lake is named after the rare Himalayan trout fishes called Dodi in the local language of the region. Himalayan trouts are found in very few places, and Dodital lake is one of them. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Ganesha was said to have been born here and the beheading of Ganesha by Shiva took place here. This lake has a circumference of 1.5 kms and is bounded with dense deodar trees all around it. Trek to Dodital lake is easy but it gets moderate if you trail towards Darwa Pass. The view from Darwa top is incomparable, you get to see wide ranges of Himalayan from there.
