Dzongri Trek Overview

The Yuksom Dzongri trek allows you to explore the landscape of Sikkim. It involves traversing challenging trails that offer views of peaks, like Kabru (7,353m) Ratong (6,678m) Kanchenjunga (8,534m) Koktang (6,147m) Pandim (6,691m) and Narsingh (5,825m). Along the way to Dzongri peak you'll also have the opportunity to visit attractions.
These include mesmerizing waterfalls in the region and witnessing sunsets from places like Tiger Hill in Darjeeling. The trek provides sights of mountains and distant valleys. It is considered a trek where temperatures can drop below freezing at any time of the year. This enchanting journey takes you through forests in the Sikkim Himalayas reaching its point, at Dzongri Top at around 15,000 ft. From there one can appreciate the splendor of Kanchenjunga National Park. The entire trek lasts for eleven days.
You will also have a chance to explore the beautiful Khecheopalri Lake along your journey.
Many believe that the birds, in this area prevent any leaves from falling into the lake. This hike follows a route that's similar, to the Chaurikhang HMI Basecamp and Goechala Trek starting from Yuksom

Day 1 - NJP/Bagdogra

Upon reaching the Bagdogra Airport or NJP you will be chauffeured to Kalimpong. Once you arrive in this town proceed to check in, at a hotel, for a stay.

Day 2 - Kalimpong

Embark, on a captivating journey through the meandering landscapes and narrow paths of Kalimpong leading you to Yuksum today. Upon reaching Yuksum find a place to settle down and enjoy a day. As evening approaches take a walk, around the coronation site and Ani Gompa located in the town.

Day 3 - Yuksum

On the day of your trek you'll embark on a journey, from Yuksum to Bakhim covering a distance of 14 kilometers. Traverse through forests with pine and oak trees cross the Prek Chu River and continue your uphill hike until you reach Sachen, where you'll camp for the night, in tents.

Day 4 - Sachen

Today you'll embark on a journey, to Bakhim strolling amidst the enchanting magnolia and rhododendron trees. Make sure to explore the Tshoka village, where you can revel in the awe inspiring sight of Mt Pandim, Aralunchong, Lamba Lamini.. When night falls enjoy a stay, in one of the charming wooden huts of Tshoka.

Day 5 - Tshoka

Begin your day by embarking on a journey, towards Dzongri. This captivating trek will take 5 hours guiding you through forests adorned with vibrant rhododendrons and over 400 diverse species of blooming flowers. Resume your trek. By afternoon arrive at Dzongri where cozy wooden huts await to provide you with comfortable accommodation, for an overnight stay.

Day 6 - Laxmi Pokhari

Start your day by waking up in the morning to witness the sunrise, over the majestic peaks of Khangchendzonga, Kabru, Pandim, Rathong and other mountains that form the Khangchendzonga range. Once you've enjoyed a breakfast embark on an expedition, to Laxmi Pokhari and immerse yourself in the mesmerizing beauty of this captivating region. Spend your night in a hut located in Dzongri.

Day 7 - Dzongri

Start your day by witnessing the breathtaking beauty of mountain peaks as you embark on a trek to Dzongri top. From this vantage point you can enjoy a view of Kabru (7353M) Ratong (6678 M) Kanchenjanga (8534 M) Koktang (6147 M) Pandim (6691 M) and Narsingh (5825 M). Continue your journey, along the Singalila Ridge until you reach Tsokha, where you can spend the night in a hut.

Day 8 - Toskha

Embark, on a journey to Yuksom, which involves descending 4,000ft and takes 7 hours to complete. Indulge in an evening gathering before bidding adieu, to the porters and trekking team. Spend the night at the hotel.

Day 9 - Yuksom-Pelling

Start your day with a breakfast, in the morning before embarking on a drive from Yuksom to Pelling in West Sikkim. Take some time to explore the Khecheopalri Lake, known for its legend that says the birds in the vicinity prevent fallen leaves from trees from touching the water. End your day with an stay, at a hotel.
