A paradise for nature lovers

Kabini National Park is a haven for us nature and wildlife lovers. With the Kabini safari package, you can go on a jeep or boat safari along the Kabini River. We spotted a few animals here, like elephants, crocodiles, and many bird species, and were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the tiger too. It is a wildlife sanctuary, which you should definitely visit.

Like most people, we went to Kabini to spot tigers. Unfortunately, even though we went on the safari twice, we didn't spot any tigers. However, we still loved our time here as we saw many other wildlife, like elephants, bison, mugger crocodiles, and the stealthy big cat, the leopard. Will make a trip here again to spot tigers soon.

Wonderful experience but it was hot

We booked the safari in Kabini in May; though it increased our chances of spotting tigers, we saw 2 tigers. But May is quite hot and humid in Karnataka, so if you are okay with this, go ahead. Otherwise, plan the safari for October-March.

The gorgeous river Kabini separates the two national parks. Which is better—Bandipur or Kabini? Here is the answer:

Wildlife: If you compare the wildlife, both have many diverse species. Bandipur is famous for its massive population of tigers. On the other hand, Kabini is gaining popularity for its high sightings of leopards. The big cat spotting makes all the difference, but if wildlife sighting is your choice, Kabini has a denser wildlife population than Bandipur.
Location: Both the parks are almost 200-210 km from Bangalore and only 60-70 km from Mysore. Also, just separated by the river Kabini, on the basis of location, you can make no differentiation between the two national parks.
Forest type: Bandipur is situated at a higher altitude, so you find arid deciduous trees, losing leaves in winter. Kabini, on the other hand, has moist deciduous vegetation and since it is on lower altitudes, the vegetation is open. This is ideal for wildlife photographers as they can capture beautiful and magical moments on their cameras.
Safaris: You get to enjoy safaris by jeep and boat in both parks.
