summary

There is a beautiful history associated with the temple establishment. A civil contractor named Mariappa Swamiji was working in Sri Vishwanath temple in the Nandi Hills. A sage whom he used to visit gave him the task of identifying a similar kind of sage who was doing Tapasya in the caves of Bangalore. Finally, after a lot of research, Mariappa discovered Saint Ramanand Swamiji meditating in the cave of Hulimavu. After, the death of the saint, a temple was finally carved out of the cave with the rest of the ancient structures intact. On that note, the following are some of the most important overviews for a tourist:
• The temple celebrates Sri Kodandarama Swami Brahmotsav each year.
• The Cave temple is a monolithic structure.
For unknown reasons, the temple lacks the wide range of popularity that it deserves. However, it has all the amenities favorable to the tourists, such as the nearest bus routes, train routes, and airports as it is located near the main city of Bangalore. With that said, the temple is sure to fill one's tourism reprise.

There are various theories regarding the actual age of the temple. It is often said that the temple could be more than 2000 years old. It could be around 4000 to 5000 years old.
