The exhibits at the Kisimu Museum focus on the cultural and environmental heritage of Western Kenya. The museum houses a large collection of native flora and wildlife.
Kisumu Museum is also a hub for international and local conferences and workshops. The museum enclosure, built on 10 acres of land, is one of the few green spaces available in Kisumu for the benefit of people and visitors alike.
Fort Tenan, Songhor, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Mausoleum, Thimlich Ohinga World Heritage Site, and Tom Mboya Mausoleum are all attached to Kisumu Museum.
The Kisimu museum, located south of the town centre, is divided into three sections. The museum's first section focuses on the three major language groups of western Kenya: Kalenjin, Luo, and Bantu. The second component of the museum is a typical Luo homestead that depicts the imaginary life of Onyango as he goes through the rite of passage that was utilised to build his own family property. The third and last portion of the museum is a small aquarium that showcases the aquatic assets of adjacent lakes, as well as a reptile house that displays examples of all the area snakes you probably don't want to encounter.
Due to its vicinity to Lake Victoria, the second-largest freshwater lake in the world, it not only functions as a tourist destination and educational and recreational hub, but also as a resource for information on the preservation and sustainability of Lake Victoria's biodiversity.
The Western Rift Valley and Nyanza Province's material cultures are highlighted in the museum's compact but thorough exhibit gallery. This includes basketry, fishing equipment, farming implements, and hunting and traditional dress and jewellery. A lion, a De Brazza monkey, and the biggest Nile perch ever taken in Kenya are among the other dioramas on display.
The port city of Kisumu is located in western Kenya along the beaches of Lake Victoria. The country's third-largest city is home to some intriguing tourist attractions.
The Kisumu Museum is made up of several outdoor pavilions, some of which house live creatures including different kinds of fish from Lake Victoria. Mambas, Puff Adders, Spitting Cobras, and other dangerous snakes from Kenya can also be found at the museum.
Weapons, jewellery, and farm objects used by residents of the Nyanza Province are featured in further shows. In one of the museum's pavilions, there are rocks with artwork created by Tara on them.
The Ber-gi-dala show, which featured a typical Luo farmhouse and Luo relics, has so far been the most significant display. The residence, livestock corrals, and granary of a Luo man make up this UNESCO-sponsored exhibit, which details the Luo people's history, migration to western Kenya, and customs and beliefs.
Site of the Ancient Kanam
A short distance from Homa Mountain is where you'll find Kanam on the Lake Victoria shore. Following the discovery of a fossil human jaw, Pleistocene fauna, and pebble tools by Louis Leakey's expedition in 1933, this archaeological site was given official status. At this location, palaeontological bones dating from 1 to 6 million years ago have recently been discovered by researchers.
Tombi Nyaima
The settlement that sank is referred to as Simbi Nyaima. Within a few kilometres of Lake Victoria's shore lies a crater lake called Simbi Nyaima. Because of the following legendary tale, the Luo people highly value this location:

Romantic Candle Light Dinner In Andaman
This was a perfect romantic dinner we had on our 1st wedding anniversary :) location is the best as while having food one can enjoy the best view and soothing sound of waves right in front of your table set up. Though the entire staff is very efficient and interactive, there is a scope for improving food and service standards.
