summary

One of the most tranquil and quiet tourist attractions in Ooty is the Ooty Lake, which is surrounded by Eucalyptus woods and has the Nilgiri hills in the background. Near the lake, if you're lucky, you might be able to see some unusual birds. But this location's popularity is not simply due to the lake's beauty; it is also largely due to the entertaining activities available to both adults and children.

At Ooty Lake, boating is a well-liked tourist activity. A ride across the picturesque lake is possible by renting paddle boats, motorboats, and rowing boats from the boathouse in Ooty Lake. Children can take a tour of the lake and park while having fun on the miniature train.

Highlights of Ooty Lake

This is a unique tourist destination in Ooty, and we don't think you'll find anything like it anywhere else in the nation. Antony Joseph came up with the original idea for the thread garden, and together with 50 gifted people, they labored long and hard for 12 years to produce this miracle.

The Ooty toy train, which has been operating since 1899, travels 46 kilometers (km) over the highlands in five hours. The toy train ride begins in Mettupalayam and ends in Ooty. It is the steepest rail system in Asia. It is among the greatest methods to see the Nilgiris' lovely hidden treasures.

One of Ooty's most visited tourist attractions is the Rose Garden, which is also adjacent to Ooty Lake. The garden, often called Centenary Rose Park, was started in 1995. In this expansive garden, there are many different kinds of roses, including hybrid varieties as well as local and imported roses.

Ooty is a natural haven, hence the city is home to several lakes and waterfalls. The Halasana Waterfalls are among the most beautiful and well-known waterfalls. This waterfall, which is 150 feet tall, is breathtaking to see.

Points Of Interest for Ooty Lake

For those who enjoy visiting mountains, Ooty, known as the Queen of the Nilgiris, is a well-liked vacation spot. The Ooty Lake is another attraction that draws many tourists to Ooty. The stunning, large lake with the azure-colored water has a fascinating past. Although many of us would find it hard to believe, Ooty Lake is truly a man-made lake. John Sullivan, Coimbatore's then collector, constructed it in 1824 with fishing in mind.

Ooty then had numerous water streams down from the Himalayas. The collector made the decision to seal them off in order to create a lake that covered a large area of 65 acres. But as time went on, the lake's area decreased, leaving room for new construction to be built nearby. The Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation acquired ownership of the lake in 1973. Many additional constructions were erected, including a boathouse where visitors can rent boats. For the delight of the visitors, they also created a theme park and other activities. Ooty Lake is now a popular tourist destination in the charming city of Ooty.

Last but not least, during the third week of May, the Ooty Botanical Garden hosts a lovely flower show where 150 different flower kinds are displayed. It is a unique festival that should not be missed.
