About High Altitude Trekking Insurance

Under these services, we provide medical rescue packages including adventure insurance for all adventure activities worldwide. This insurance is provided via licensed agents by SAR (search and rescue) assistance, the (IRDAI) Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India, and any other services offered by BanBanjara.
About the policy
- This high-altitude trekking insurance policy is valid only for clients of banbanjara
- This is adventure insurance by banbanjara by ICICI Lombard General Insurance Co. Ltd.
- Make sure that the policy is issued before you start your journey or trek and keep a copy of your policy document sent through email.
- The policy should be home location or as per the itinerary provided.
- This insurance policy is only valid for ex-pats working in India and residents of India having a PAN number and a valid bank account
- No pre-existing disease shall not be covered under this insurance policy whether it is declared or not.
Medical rescue and hospitalization S.O.P
- The medical air evacuation only works on a paid or cashless basis which is arranged by authorities of the particular region in charge of the medical and rescue. This cover only works on a pre-approval basis. The traveling member must contact banbanjara at the time of the event.
- The insurance company or banbanjara shall not be obliged under any circumstances to pay back a client or any third-party service provider for any evacuation cost that has been arranged by the guide or client without Banbanjara’s pre-approval.
- Medical evacuations mean evacuation due to sickness or accidents of the client. This insurance does not include coverage for the search of missing participants in case of a medical emergency.
- A claim is only considered valid when approved by the doctor present at the site or banbanjara's on-call doctor and the patient is transferred to the nearby medical center for hospitalization/consultation. The case will not be considered valid in case the patient is not taken to the medical center.
- If you face AMS symptoms while trekking then you should not move forward as the symptoms may get serious as you reach a higher altitude. This will put your life at risk. Do consult your trek leader or local physician present at the moment.
- If you are not feeling well then you should never trek alone in case you are advised to reach a lower altitude. In this case, ask your guide to provide you with a porter or local staff.
- During mild injuries or accidents, you should arrange a non-foot or road evacuation toward the medical center.
- Claims would not be applicable if you decide to return from the mid-trek from your private vehicle due to personal health issues
- The entire responsibility of your evacuation will be taken by the operator. He will arrange the porters who will accompany you to return to your city. Banbanjara will not be responsible for any such claims.
- All the incidents should be reported as soon as possible up to 7 days for the same
- In the event of a medical emergency or accident, all other activities must be stopped so that you can focus on the incident properly.
- If the client is found under the influence of drugs or alcohol then no claims shall be payable in this case.
- The trek leader or guide must take the SBAR report from persons on site. The SBAR must be relayed to the banbanjara head office in Jaipur.
- To get a claim for treatment of ongoing illness or injury in the town, you must inform banbanjara and must get a prescription from a local attending doctor. The insurance must be claimed within 30 days from the occurrence date of the incident.
- In case the trek is delayed due to government reasons then in that case only trip delay cover would come into effect.
- To cancel the trip make sure your journey date is the same as the travel date.
Trip cancellation
- The company shall pay the insured for the incurred due to the cancellation of the trip because of unexpected events.
- Injury or sickness that requires medical attention should provide advice in writing by a practicing doctor as unfit for travel. In case of death due to any unforeseen illness or injury of you or your immediate family member or traveling companion.
- Due to natural calamities of which you were not aware while purchasing the policy like floods, landslides, tornadoes, cyclones, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, forest fire, etc. at your home town, departure city, or in the city which is a scheduled destination.
- A terrorist attack occurs in the hometown, departure city, or in the city which is a scheduled destination.
- In case of a major travel event that prevents you from traveling to your destination mentioned in the itinerary
- In the case of prevention of travel by the government of india or any advisory
- As stated in the 1st part of the policy schedule, subject to the maximum liability of the company, the insured will be paid by the company.
Exclusions – Trip cancellation
Due to factors such as negligence of the operator, insufficient participants, failure to transfer funds, strikes, civil unrest, or any other event known in advance trip modification or cancellation may occur. If the cancellation occurs due to natural calamities that are not declared officially by the government then the claims may not be covered. If the danger was known before the purchase of the policy or in case the event took place 15 days before the trip then the claim would be invalid.
Trip Interruption or Curtailment
In case of any serious illness, major travel event unexpected injury/death/ sickness of travel companion or close relative, or hijacking banbanjara repay the non-refundable expenses or sea, land, or air travel through a common public carrier as per the policies specified limit.
Exclusions - Trip Interruption or Curtailment
In case the trip is interrupted fully or partly by the public carrier due to any technical or operational issues by a government authority or by the travel agent is covered by the insurance policy. This covers interruptions caused by schedule changes, cancellation of flights, or other factors that are out of the traveler's control. Financial protection is ensured in such cases.
Claims procedure
If you need to claim the insurance, in that case, you should contact Banbanjara's emergency number or the helpline number that is provided. In case you fail to inform us immediately the claim may be affected. Within 30 days of the incident, you must submit all the required documents to banbanjara. In case of recompense, call the head office in Jaipur or contact info@banbanjara.com within 15 days. During the claim processing make sure you submit all the required documents. Review the terms and conditions along with the insurance policy certificate, exclusions, and coverage provided by ICICI Lombard and banbanjara.

INDEMNITY
It is hereby stated that banbanjara shall not be held liable in case of loss suffered due to delay in hospital admission, delay in evacuation, or case of delay in attending by a doctor, etc. Therefore, in case of any loss, mishappening, or damage occurring then in that case banbanjara shall not be held liable.
