The incredulous road which connects it with Jaisalmer is another reason to visit this old temple. The route is brimming with the vistas brimming with beautiful landscapes according to the visitors. Once you reach the temple you will be mesmerized with the divinity and purity of the temple. Often turning the non-believer of the divine power into a devotee, there is a unique aura surrounding its premises. There have been a lot of anecdotes where the uniqueness of this temple left them mesmerized although they visited this place as tourists. In and around this temple there have been many instances of divine intervention as well. Quite often many people re-visit this temple. After the war between India and Pakistan that was waged in 1965, the Tanot Mata shrine gained nationwide fame. Aiming the Tanot village, militants from the other side of the border were shelling bombs. However, none of them diffused in the vicinity surrounding the Tanot Mata Temple, despite the fact that more than 1000 bombs were launched, protecting a large team of the Indian soldiers and civilians.
Jaisalmer Fort: Built by Raja Jaisal in 1156 A.D, this is a spectacular piece of architecture. Known as the Golden Fort for its mesmerizing gold and yellow sandstones Jaisalmer Fort is also ranked amongst the largest forts in the world. From Tanot Mata Temple to Jaisalmer Fort, it is a two-hour drive.
Thar Desert: No introduction is needed for The Thar Desert. Do not forget to camp under the stars, dune bashing in the desert, and camel safari. Thar Desert is quite famous for its Rajasthani dance performance, dune bashing camel safari, jeep safari, and night camps. During your time at Thar, do not miss the splendorous sunrise and sunset . From the temple, the desert is located at a distance of 70 km .
Gadisar Lake: Near the Jaisalmer Fort, this pristine lake is located. It is known for its scenic spots, great architecture and enriching history.
In 1367 A.D, it was built by Raja Rawal Jaisal and rebuilt by Maharawal Garsi. The famous Folklore Museum and historic Tilon Ki Pol gate can also be visited here.
It takes about 2 hours to cover the distance between this lake and the temple which is 120 km.

Kuldhara: Known for its ruins and history this is a ghost town. It is said that Mr. Salim Singh the state minister of the town, wanted to marry the daughter of the village chief. He announced that the whole village will suffer the consequencesif he didn’t agree to his demand.
Cursing the place to never see human settlement again the village didn’t accept the minister’s demand and moved away .
This abandoned town is known for its spooky tales. To reach here from the temple, it takes about 2 hours.
Thar Heritage Museum: In the main market, the Museum is located. For exhibiting the history, culture, and architecture of the great Thar Desert it is quite popular. Do not miss the vibrant puppet show that takes place here, if you visit this museum. From the temple, it is located at a distance of 120 km.
You can take a round of the museum established in the same vicinity, after paying your respects to the Goddess. During the Indo-Pakistan wars of 1965 and 1971, the arms and ammunitions used is helds for a public exhibition. They hold great significance because the bombs used to kill the natives of Tanot village didnt diffused.
