Best time to visit Tsunami Monument

December through April is the ideal time to visit the Maldives. It is the Maldives' peak tourism season and the dry season. During this season, the typical temperature fluctuates between 24 and 31 degrees Celsius. During this time, the 26 atolls of the Maldives have very little rainfall, clear skies, low humidity, and calm seas. Although the reef life is active and the underwater visibility is high from December to April, this is also the best period for sunbathing, scuba diving, and snorkeling. Bring a bunch of beachwear, swimsuits, and a big tube of sunscreen.

The Maldives' wet or monsoon season, which lasts from May to November, is characterized by high humidity and sporadic heavy rains. Towards the end of April, the southwesterly monsoon winds arrive, and rainfall is more likely in the southern islands. Yet, the low-lying atolls are only briefly covered by the clouds. Due to the fact that it is off-season, costs are generally lower and there are fewer visitors to the resorts. Because of the larger waves and better swells, May through November is also the best time for surfing.
