Highlights of Manimahesh Lake

During the eighth day of the New Moon phase in the months of August and September, which correspond to the Hindu calendar month of Bhadon, a highly esteemed pilgrimage walk is made to the lake. The "Manimahesh Yatra" is the name given to it. It has been designated a pilgrimage at the state level by the Himachal Pradesh government.

Two hiking paths lead to the lake. One of them hails from the pilgrim and trekker-heavy Hadsar village. This route is simpler and offers accommodations and simple meals throughout the pilgrimage season. The other comes from the Holi village. This path ascends even higher before descending to the lake. A little village is the only other place of residence along this road.
