summary

The temple complex, which is situated along the banks of the Chao Phraya, was built by General Taksin and the last members of the monarchy during the conflict between Siam and Burma. When a new Ayutthaya was established, the temple was later given the name Aruna after the Indian God of Dawn.
In addition to displaying old architectural grandeur, Wat Arun also has a lengthy history. The enormous temple's construction was begun by King Rama II, but King Rama III oversaw its completion in the latter half of the nineteenth century. The temple is decorated with elaborate floral mosaics fashioned from broken Chinese porcelain that were painted in vivid hues to create complex patterns. Rama V's reign is marked by striking murals that adorn a number of the temple's interior spaces. King Rama II had created and erected the main Buddha statue. The significant representation of Prince Siddhartha and his encounters with life's stages outside the palace's lofty walls, including birth, old age, illness, and death, is a notable feature of the temple. It highlights how important these meetings were since they finally inspired him to give up his material possessions and seek Nirvana. Particularly after dusk, the stunning views of the Chao Phraya River are a joy to see.
