Wat Phra Kaew

Emerald Buddha, also known as Wat Phra Kaew, is a statue of the Buddha made of
semi-precious stone green jasper and covered in gold. It dates back to the 15th century. The
stucco wall of a Buddhist stupa in Chiang Rai, northern Thailand, was broken through by
lightning in 1434 CE, leading to the discovery of this figure. It is one of the most mystical
figurines that are said to have some spiritual power because nothing is known about its
history before it. The Chronicle of the Emerald Buddha, a palm leaf book written in the Pali
language and discovered in Chiang Mai, is the sole source of information we have about it.
According to this document, a Sarvastivadan Buddhist monk from Patliputra, India, created
the statue around 43 BCE.

Wat Pra Chetuphon: Wat pra Chetuphon is a Buddhist temple complex in Bangkok,
Thailand's Phra Nakhon District. It is commonly called the Temple of the Reclining Buddha
and is home to one of the giant Buddha statues, measuring 46 meters long and 15 meters
high. The school of Thai medicine and the birthplace of traditional Thai massage are also
located here.
