Versailles Palace is a grand and opulent royal chateau located in Versailles, France, approximately 20 kilometers southwest of Paris. The palace was originally built as a hunting lodge in the early 17th century by King Louis XIII, but it was his son, King Louis XIV, who transformed it into the magnificent palace we know today.
Over the course of several decades, Louis XIV hired the best architects, artists, and craftsmen of his time to expand and beautify the palace. He also created the famous Hall of Mirrors, a magnificent ballroom featuring 357 mirrors, and surrounded the palace with magnificent gardens that are famous for their stunning fountains and geometric designs.
Versailles Palace served as the seat of power for the French monarchy until the French Revolution in 1789. Today, it is one of France's most popular tourist attractions, drawing millions of visitors each year who come to marvel at its lavish interiors, vast gardens, and rich history.
