Alang Madan Kulang Trek Overview

Alang Madan Kulang trek lies in the Kalsubai range of the Sahyadris, in Nashik district, Maharashtra. The combination of dense forests, rocks and boulders, caves, water cisterns, and ancient writings on the walls of the rocks, as well as the views from the peak, make this one of the most spectacular treks in the Western Ghats.

Because of the complex terrain and the risky long traverse on ledges, mountaineering experience and skills, and the ability to use technical climbing equipment are required at certain portions. Alang Madan Kulang is recognized as Maharashtra's most challenging trek since it necessitates these high-level capabilities for a two-day trip.

This three-day, two-night trip will take you through the three forts of Alang, Madan, and Kulang, which are located in Maharashtra's highest mountain range. Many of the notable peaks and reservoirs can be seen from the top, including the Kalsubai, Vikatgad, and Vishramgad in the North East, Ajobagad, Ratangad, Sandhan Valley, Dangya Pinnacle in the South, Harishchandragad and Bhandardara in the South East.

This trek offers the participants the Sahyadris forest sections at the foot of the Alang and Kulang forts, which are hidden gems and worthy treasures to find. They're crammed with rock, boulders, and seasonal waterways, as well as flora and fauna. If you look carefully at the woods and plants, you might also see animals. The long ledge traverses at various points along the trail are certainly a one-of-a-kind experience. When we say long traverse, we mean parts that are more than a kilometer long. These parts are sure to have your heart pounding, with heavy rocks on one side and a 1,000-foot drop on the other.

The Alang Madan Kulang Fort trek is categorized as pretty challenging. On the first day, you'll climb about 1,770 feet in altitude till you reach the peak, then lose and gain a few hundred feet the next day. Although the altitude gain is not significant for a two-day trek, the rolling ascents and descents over 12.5 kilometers can be taxing for those who live sedentary lives.

The vertical rock faces on this trek cannot be traversed without the use of climbing equipment, unlike most other treks where the vertical rock faces provide any sort of protection to ascend and descend. This makes the trek both unique and challenging since it is the only trek in the Western Ghats that needs these abilities. The plateau on top of the three forts offers spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding peaks, reservoirs, and farmlands. Alang Madan Kulang trek must be at the top of your bucket list if you want to see these views.

You will spend the nights in caves, which is an amazing experience in itself. Breakfast is served on all three days of the Alang Madan Kulang trek, as well as dinner, lunch, and evening tea on two days. The package also includes round-trip transfers to and from Kasara. This is a journey to take the road less traveled. Come on, pack your luggage, and come along for the ride.
