Salher and Salota are known as the twin forts of the Dolbari - Selbari hill ranges that is located near Maharashtra - Gujarat border, in Baglan region at district of Nashik, it takes around 280 kilometers from Mumbai. Salher peak is known as the second highest peak of Maharashtra state, after Kalsubai. But, the Fort of Salher is the highest fort of Maharashtra state ( 5,175 feet ).
The historic remnants can still be visible at both the forts. The pond on the top of Salher Fort and the temple at its highest point remind us of the wonderful past the fort holds. There’s a Hanuman idol on the top of Salota fort as well.
Salota fort and Salher fort both are very close to each other. When you climb to the top of one's hill, you can also witness a bird's eye view of another fort too. Although the trek is very much unknown to most of Maharashtra and that is what makes it a unique offbeat trail to enjoy with your friends, family and loved ones.
Day 1 - Salher Wadi Village or Waghambe to Salher Fort
Day 2 - From Salher Fort till Salota Fort
On a clear day, the ridge stroll offers you a glimpse of what's awaiting you on the summit! From the col turn right and make your way up through quick steep ascents and rocky terrain over gradual ascent. The path until the rock-cut steps isn't always clear and there are probabilities that you may lose track.At the top of the stairs, there is a 2nd Darwaza and also you reach the Salota Fort.
