The secret waterfall, or staircase waterfall, as it is popularly known, is situated at a height of 1000 meters at Visapur Fort. It is the highest fort in Maharashtra, and the Visapur trek route is the best way to reach the falls. The trek exposes you to a waterfall gushing down stone steps—a beautiful sight to behold. It is a great place for camping as well, and if you are a history buff, head to the Bhaja or Bhaje Caves, a consolidation of 22 massive rock cut formations near Lonavala. You can also head to Bhaje Waterfalls for a wonderful experience. The package also involves camping nearby overnight with beautiful views and a trip to Pawna Lake depending upon time and route taken.

The pre-monsoon months from July to September are perfect for trekking to Visapur Fort and the secret waterfall in Maharashtra. During this time, you can enjoy the organic beauty of this beautiful waterfall. However, you can plan a trip here any time of the year.
The waterfall is a mix of both. It is a blend of manmade and natural waterfalls. The water cascading down is natural, but the staircase is manmade using stone as a pathway to Visapur Fort.
Yes, you can find a flowing waterfall even in the off-monsoon season. Remember, between November and February, the water flow decreases so you can climb the stone steps with ease. However, from March to June, there is only the pathway and not the waterfall.
It is an easy trek, which even a beginner with a good fitness level can head to.
Yes, it is safe to climb the staircase waterfall, as there are metal handlebars to help you climb. However, stay safe by not risking climbing during heavy water flow.
