Kataldhar is in the Ulhas Valley, near Lonavala, on the way to Udhewadi Village, the Rajmachi Fort's base village. There is only one path to Kataldhar Waterfall, which begins in Fanasrai Village. Waterfalls are only accessible during the monsoon season, and the level of the waterfall is entirely dependent on rainfall. It drains easily and can become dry after a few weeks with no or little rain.
The trek will take us through a thick forest with a slick route. When descending and climbing from Kataldhar waterfall, extreme caution is needed. Shirvardhan Fort offers a view of Kataldhar. Kataldhar Falls is a well-kept secret. Trekking without a guide or experts is not recommended because the forest is thick and it is possible to get lost. Caves also developed under the waterfall, and are only apparent while the water is flow is moderate. Since the Kataldhar Waterfall is vulnerable to flash flooding, you must be vigilant at all times and avoid going too far.
